Ensuring play areas are for everyone
with the My Play Area Standards
Our vision at My Play Area is to develop an independent national standard to ensure that play areas are designed with every child in mind.
Currently, in the UK, there is no independent standard to support or promote the development of
inclusive play areas. With 800,000 disabled children under the age of 16 (that’s 1 child in 20) living in
the UK and 99.1% of those children living with and being supported by their families*; we firmly
believe that the development of a national My Play Area standard is long overdue.
My Play Area Standards use independent research from across the UK to ensure play areas are designed with every child in mind.

“We are passionate about play, about meeting the needs of all children and want to see play areas improved by ensuring fair access and opportunities for all.”
My Play Area is a family led business with years of experience of maintaining, installing and most importantly, seeing our children enjoying play areas.
We want every child to have the opportunity to play.
My Play Standards explained
When a play area is assessed, it will fall into one of the following

offering a range of equipment for
all abilities for the local community

play equipment and design will offer the widest range
of play opportunities possible. There may also
be toilets, car parking and café close by

these play areas will now be on the wish list of all children
and parents, demonstrating access for all, multiple
opportunities as well as other facilities on site.
